FPAD DWARFISM UGANDA

membership

Persons affected by dwarfism (PAD) face serious challenges in all spheres of life i.e social, economical, health and political life.
In many cases, Health is the master key for one’s progress and once conditions of a PAD is not managed at an early stage; it can lead to multiple disabilities or even death of the person. Conditions like; bowed legs, arthritis, progressive hunching of the back, narrowed channel in the lower spine resulting in pressure on the spinal cord (spinal stenosis), spinal pressure at the base of the skull, excess brain fluid (hydrocephalus), sleep apnea, delays in motor skills development as a baby, weight gain that can place more strain on the spine and joints.

Also after many PAD accessing chance to education and the challenges through which they can get into formal and informal employment, the stigma and discrimination we go through, the lack of awareness about Dwarfism and the entitlements to little persons numerously ignites the formation of the Foundation of Persons Affected with Dwarfism (FPAD) to lobby and advocate for the rights of PAD members so that they can enjoy their lives within their country and exercise their potentials in their day-to-day life through building their capacities and networking. Grate applause appreciation to our Parent Annet Nakyeyune who showed us the way to go.
