OYAM DISTRICT MOBILIZATION EXERCISE IN NORTHERN

It was an open discussion session where all the participants actively identified issues that affect them in all spheres of life within their localities. All participants acknowledged discrimination and stigmatization as one of challenges faced across all regions. All participants noted they experience discrimination within the disability cycles. There is need for an inclusive awareness rising on dwarfism. Based on the above and other challenges, participants suggested the following interventions;

A team of little persons from Oyam, Kamdin and Kole
led by Ajoke Joan as they organise to support in
building the house of the priest for god’s glory.
  • Education for children living with dwarfism
  • Child protection of children living with dwarfism
  • Early identification of children living with dwarfism for support
  • Life skills training for young people affected by dwarfism
  • Accessing to formal financial services starting with ATM machines and counters
  • Awareness raising in dwarfism

Enhance access to HIV/AIDS services among people affected by dwarfism.
